Among all these, anger is the most negative one. It creates a very harsh, stressful, and painful impact on your body, especially on your mental and emotional health.

Pay attention to the thoughts that arise when you are upset. Are there any specific beliefs or interpretations that make you angry?

Once you’ve discovered your triggers, you can apply techniques to manage them more efficiently by using relaxing techniques, altering your surroundings, practicing assertive communication, etc.


2. Pause and Reflect

Pausing and reflecting is an important step toward controlling your anger issues. 

Learn to recognize the physical and emotional indicators that indicate you’re growing furious. These may include a racing heart, clenched fists, or a sense of tension.

When you observe these signals, make a conscious decision to pause. If possible, temporarily separate yourself from your surroundings. 

This is something I always do, whenever I feel angry which happens rarely but quite strongly.

Concentrate on your breath to ground yourself and relax your mind. This can assist to calm your emotions and clarify your thinking.

While you take a break, think about what provoked your anger and why it affected you so intensely.

After reflecting, decide how you wish to respond to the issue. This could include assertively expressing your feelings, establishing limits, or attempting to reach a compromise.

Be kind to yourself while navigating your emotions. 

By pausing and reflecting before reacting, you allow yourself to respond to difficult situations more deliberately and helpfully. 


3. Practicing Relaxation Techniques

Relaxation techniques can help you manage your anger issues by soothing both your mind and body. There are different practices, but deep breathing is the most common and effective. 

Inhale deeply through your nose, then exhale slowly through your mouth. After a few repetitions, you will notice a sensation throughout your body that makes your mind more attentive and quiet. 

The second form is mindful meditation, which involves bringing attention to the present moment without criticizing it. You can simply practice by paying attention to your breath, bodily sensations, and the sounds around you. 

The third option is yoga, which combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation to promote relaxation and stress relief. 

Fourth, spending time outside in nature can have a relaxing impact on both the mind and body. Take a leisurely walk around a park or natural area, observing the sights, sounds, and sensations around you.


4. Count to Hundred 

Counting to a hundred is a simple yet effective way to control your anger issues. 

When you notice yourself becoming irritated, take a minute to pause and count slowly to a hundred in your brain. 

This can help you break the loop of overwhelming emotions and allow you to cool down before reacting carelessly. 

If you’re still furious after counting to 100, continue the practice or try other anger management techniques to help you control your emotions.

Discuss your feelings calmly and forcefully. Use “I” expressions to express your feelings without criticizing others. 

Encourage the other person to communicate their point of view, and engage in active listening to comprehend it better. 

This can assist you to diffuse the situation and avoid misconceptions.

Art may be a great tool for expressing complicated emotions that are difficult to put in words.
